Hyper Pigmentation refers to certain skin conditions which cause the skin to appear lighter, darker than normal, or blotchy and discolored. This in turn makes one’s face appear rather dull and older. The main cause of skin pigmentation disorders is the overproduction of a pigment called Melanin in the body. Melanin, produced by melanocytes, is the pigment responsible for the color of our hair, skin, and eyes. It protects the body by absorbing ultraviolet light from the sun.
At Metamorphosis, a consultation with our skin care experts, helps us assess your condition accurately to establish exactly what you will need to help improve your appearance. Just request a consultation with us online or call our office for more information.
What areas of the body are treated?
Any area can be treated safely; however the most common are face, neck, chest, arms and hands.
How many treatments are needed and how often?
On average, patients would need 2-3 sessions for complete removal. However, this is best determined by the treatment plan our doctors create for you.
When will results start appearing?
They mainly appear after the first treatment, but will be fully evident between 4-8 weeks.
Are the results permanent?
The pigmented lesions which were removed will not reappear after the treatments. The treatment does not prevent new hyper pigmentation from occurring due to UV rays, and we will provide consultation on the same.
Does pigmentation removal hurt?
There is very minimal discomfort reported but the results are definitely worthwhile. We don’t offer numbing agents as they interfere with the treatment, but we do offer a cold compress before if needed.
